i think this is great! when i give to people, i don't worry what they do with it,or if their story is true.thats between them and God,how i respong to them is what i have to answer to God about. Is it Jesus asking? also a simple smile or friendly remark can really change someone who is having a bad day! i know its made a difference to me before! keep up the good work!!!

Check out this website, too. It gives a helpful overview of the main positions involved in all of this:

I think there is something immensely valuable about having the capacity and the ability to feel the anger, discomfort, grief, and shed the tears in the face of the suffering in our world. There's something about these emotions that can bring us into real contact and connection with those who suffer. Thank you, Jarrett, for this post.

I fall into this line of thought all the time. It's very easy to let the immediate worries of the now take hold of how I use my time.

Bobby, This is a great post. A Ruthless Trust is my favorite of Manning's books - he always has a way of unfolding the glory of God in my imagination in new ways. The mystery of the life in Christ is so outrageous that it simply cannot be neatly categorized. God in Christ did something so new and outside the normal realm of human experience, that it is difficult for us to fully grasp. Because of this I would argue that a mystical appropriation of the incarnation is nothing less than essential for a vital and faith that remains full of awe and wonder! Indeed, the Christian who accepts the mystical nature of the faith is a Christian who will always be falling back in love with God as s/he continues to approach the story with fresh eyes and a new capacity to imagine the wonder of the glory of God!
